Cheap Holidays

Spring Break Vacation
Is South Florida Still the Spring Break Vacation?

It' s 1987 and everyone is on the strip (the popular name for A-1-A, the road that runs up and down the Atlantic coastline in Florida.) Images of colorful hair and big earrings decorated on seemingly perfect bodies are flashed everywhere. That was the place to be for your spring break vacation and every college kid across America was trying to get .....
Deciding About Cheap Holidays

Cheap holidays are always in demand since we all need to keep as many of our bucks pocketed as possible. It is interesting to compare the two types of holidays, package holidays and DIY (Do It Yourself) holidays, in terms of cost to decide which one is cheaper. In a package holiday, you do not book your own holiday but do it through someone like a travel agent who gets you the services of a tour operator. This type of holiday is an all-in-one deal. You have to pay the money and everything about your holiday (getting there, boarding, lodging etc.) is arranged for you. On the other hand, it is getting common now to arrange a DIY holiday on the web. You do booking of all your holiday needs, like travel and accommodation by yourself.

Package vs. DIY Holidays

Obviously, DIY holidays are the cheap holidays when a comparison of the nature of arrangements in the two types of holidays is made. This is because in package holidays many people are involved in offering their services and each has to be paid for these: the tour operator, the travel agent, the travel company, hotel manager, and the list continues. Choosing a DIY holiday cuts all these service fees to a great extent, and besides being cheaper, it allows a wider choice of destinations, dates, and boarding places. It is also easy and you have the satisfaction of relying on yourself in organizing.

In spite of all these advantages, a package holiday can prove cheaper for traditional destinations, owing perhaps to the increasing competition between companies in the business. Furthermore, a package holiday ensures a refund in case the holiday company doing your bookings fails to deliver. In the case of a DIY holiday, it is hard to get your money back if any of the holiday' s components fails. Finally, you can get cheap holidays by considering some important things about booking and package selection.

Points to Cut Down Package Holiday Costs

By taking care of a few important points you can get cheap holidays from the same companies, which sell their packages at otherwise higher costs. These follow as:
  1. Booking late often brings the cheapest package, though it limits the choice of destination and timings etc.

  2. Some packages offer low costs for early booking. Don' t miss brochures or ads regarding holiday packages if you have a holiday travel somewhere in your mind.

  3. Often, different travel agents are selling the same package for different prices. Compare and choose the cheapest one.

  4. By choosing less frequented locations, you get cheap holidays.

  5. If you haggle a bit over prices with different travel agents, it will count in bringing the prices down.
