An auction is a process through which any given item is sold or bought by means of bidding where the highest bidder will win the item. Auctions usually start at a minimum price for which the item can be sold and this price is determined by the owner of the item.
Types of Auctions
Private Auction
Here the privacy of the bidder is kept anonymous. This is generally practiced for high end items where large sums of money are involved and the owner prefers to remain unknown.
Public Auction
Here everyone is welcome and the bidder usually is announced at the end of each auction
Silent Auction
Here the items are sold in the same bidding manner but not be in the traditional way of shouting the price out but through written notes where each bidder will pen down the maximum amount they are willing to pay for the item. The highest bidder will win the item.
What to Expect at a Musical Instrument Auction
Rare Items
Auctions usually carry rare items not found easily on the market and this is the first thing that is expected of any auction.
Antiques
Antiques are treated as rare items and are generally put up for auction rather than sold in a private store.
Collector Items
In a musical instrument auction look for collector' s items, these are almost always very expensive but worth every penny as an item becomes a collector' s piece only when it is no longer made by the manufacturer, which, in turn means there are only so many pieces available on the market.
Great Deals
Sometimes in a musical instrument auction there are great deals made available by the owner of the item who wants to quickly dispose of it.
If you are passionate about music and have a specific instrument you enjoy, try not to miss a musical instrument auction. These auctions are worth attending even if you don' t buy anything in the end as they are a great experience from which you will at least learn something while enjoying the beauty of some rare items that will be put out on display.
You never know when you get lucky and find the musical instrument that you always wanted and have been searching forever, or you may get lucky and find a great deal that you simply cannot pass up.
